We are certified and approved for the repair of large round slings
When carrying out really heavy lifting with round slings, traditional polyester round slings are not the best choice, as they become too heavy and unwieldy to work with when they reach a certain size.
For this use, we recommend round slings made of high-performance fibres (HMPE), such as EXTREEMA® round slings. They are up to three times lighter than polyester slings, have a smaller diameter, and are up to 15 times stronger than steel on a weight-for-weight basis.
Of course, such slings are more expensive to purchase than traditional polyester round slings, but this is easily offset by the fact that the slings last longer, thanks to their strong outer cover, which can be made of either Dyneema® or Cordura® material. Last but not least, HMPE round slings can, in many cases, be repaired, depending on the extent of the damage .
When a heavy-lift sling is damaged, it must be inspected by a qualified person. It requires specially trained personnel to assess whether a sling can be repaired. That is why damaged heavy-lift round slings are sent to our department in Vojens. Here, we have several specialists certified to inspect and repair this type of round slings by Lift-Tex Industrie B.V.
If, for example, the round sling has part of its label torn off but the hidden part of the label has been preserved, the hidden part can be used to obtain a new label from the manufacturer, which is then sewn on in our sewing room. The sling can then be approved for use again.
If damage is found in the outer bag, the fibre core of the sling is checked thoroughly. If these are not damaged, the outer cover can be sewn together again using a special hand-carried sewing technique. The round sling can be approved for use again, and money has been saved on the purchase of a new sling. This also avoids unnecessary strain on the environment during disposal.
This heavy-lift round sling has been handed in to us for further investigation as to whether it can be repaired or whether the round sling must be discarded.
Our specialists in repairing heavy-lift round slings are taught sewing in the various materials that an outer covers can consist of by experts from Lift-Tex®.
An illegible or torn label can be replaced with a new label from the manufacturer so that the sling can be approved for use if the hidden part of the label is still intact.
Round slings can get various damages during use, improper storage, or wear and tear. Therefore, the user must visually inspect the sling before each use. If any damage is detected, the sling must be taken out of use immediately, put away with clear markings stating that it must not be used, or sent to us right away.
