Do you know when a chain sling should be discarded?
Although chain slings are made of hard material and seem indestructible, they can easily get damaged which makes them unsuitable for safe use.
You as a user have a responsibility to visually check the condition of your chain sling before each use. Learn more about this in the article Rejection Criteria - Chain Slings
The saying "No chain is stronger than the weakest link" has never been more true: If a single chain link is damaged, be it cuts, nicks, cracks or gouges, the chain sling must be taken out of service immediately, marked "Out of service" and inspected by a competent person.
However, there may also be damage to the components in the chain sling, see some of these in this overview, which you can print out and hang up at your chain sling storage location. Contact our service department, or send your equipment to us if you have the slightest doubt about the condition of your equipment.
