Ferring Pharmaceuticals A/S company headquarter in Copenhagen, installation of elevators and stairways in atrium.

This magnificent building comprises 3 high rise spacious blocks surrounding a central atrium. The atrium is covered by a glass dome.

Due to circumstances in the construction plan logistics; the glass dome needed to be closed before the elevator segments and main stairway flights could be installed. This made installation of these heavy sections, by overhead tower crane, impossible.

CERTEX was contacted and our engineers designed 2 special jib cranes mounted with Liftket hoists, for temporary installation inside the building. One for installing the 2 elevator segments and one for installing the stairway flights.

The 2 cranes were constructed in sections to be transported in and assembled on site. The stairway assembly jib crane needed to have a reach of 9 meters with a lifting capability of 4 tons. This is way beyond what standard range of most jib crane manufacturers can offer.

Our Solution Center engineers saw that utilizing the spacious architecture; a crane stretching the 2 top levels of the building could be constructed. The tall construction of the jib greatly reduces the forces within the crane compared to standard jib crane geometry. In this way the problem was solved by applied engineering.
